Seasonal Planning for Agricultural Drone Work
How to line up scouting, mapping and spraying capacity before the busy season — and prepare for time-critical fungicide requests.
Book capacity early
Spray operators fill up quickly during key application windows. Contact providers before the season, share expected acres and timing, and ask how they prioritise repeat customers.
Plan the monitoring calendar
Schedule stand counts after emergence, in-season vegetation-index flights at key growth stages, and post-storm damage flights as needed. Repeat flights on the same dates and settings make season-to-season comparisons easier.
Prepare for time-critical jobs
For urgent fungicide or pest jobs, have field boundaries, access notes, product supply and sensitive-area information ready in advance so a provider can mobilise quickly.
Cover crops and spreading
Drones can broadcast cover crop seed into standing crops when ground equipment cannot enter. Plan seed supply, rate and timing with your agronomist and book the operator ahead of harvest.
After the season
Review application records, maps and results with your provider, and agree data retention and next season’s plan.
